“Forbidden Rhythms” presents the aspirations, experiences and relationships of a group of young Cambodian women, featuring traditional art forms with a modern twist. They dance, drum, and chant with original compositions, choreography, and contemporary storytelling. You will be taken on engaging and inspiring journey; you won’t be able to stop yourself from clapping along with them!
Forbidden Rhythms is performed by a group of 7 artists who come from Chriv village in the countryside near Siem Reap. After joining a drumming workshop organised by Cambodian Living Arts (CLA) in 2017 they formed a troupe, Medha – which means the wisdom to move forward.
Since then, Medha has gone from strength to strength, including two performances at new traditional music festival REPfest and multiple appearances at events and private bookings.
Bambu Stage is proud to collaborate with Experience Cambodian Living Arts to bring “Forbidden Rhythms” to Siem Reap.
